We do clicker
training at Bark N' Purr Inn because it is the gentlest, most effective
way to change a dog's behavior patterns. We hold classes for dogs of
all ages, from 10 weeks old on. There are group classes held at these
levels: Puppy Kindergarten, Beginner, Advanced and Competition classes
for Obedience and Conformation. Private classes can be arranged when
preferred. We also offer training done while the dog is in board with
us.
All of the current instructors at Bark N' Purr Inn are licensed
judges, and many of their students compete in various registries in
the many dog sports.
Our Training Director, Rose O'Hara, who owns
Dogwerks, has been training dogs all of her life, and has been competing
and titling her dogs for more than 20 years now, putting more than
35 titles on dogs thus far. She is a licensed all breed conformation
and obedience judge, and has competed successfully in obedience, conformation,
agility, herding, terrier go to ground, lure coursing and schutzhund,
and bred conformation and performance titled dogs. Please see our
link to access her site. Heidi Mobley teaches our conformation classes,
and is a licensed all breed conformation judge and also handles professionally.
She is a well known breeder of quality Australian Shepherds, and competes
with her dogs in conformation and performance sports. Please see our
link to her site.
While we teach clicker training, you do not have
to use clicker to take our classes. Our instructors have enough experience
to adapt their lessons to other styles of training and welcome everyone
to class, but prefer positive reinforcement, and will never allow
anything we consider abusive to be done on our premises. If our instructors
are unable to accommodate your training needs, they will be glad to
help you find someone who can. We do not recommend or use electronic
collars at Bark N' Purr Inn or Dogwerks.
